Never really had a dull moment and was very good. Masked for me was envisioning with many unexpected turn of events. She knows this other guy ,Leon, really likes her, so she makes up lies about her dad so he wants to protect her. Overall the book gets better as it all unfolds. His neighbor's name was Leon. Daniels dad also owns a convenience store and that also got robbed just so Daniel could have enough money for himself.
He was using a weird accent, so he did not give out who he was. She does not care about others. Told in alternating chapters of three characters, this is involves a love triangle and poor choices made. High school housekeeping: Masked is a quick read for students working on their reading skills. Rosie reluctantly enters through the backroom and seems irritated to have been called on to perform some petty task by her store-owner father. Leon is a quiet and caring highschooler.
Rosie is at the store waiting for her past boyfriend Corey who may be the father of her baby. When Daniel enters a convenience store on a secret mission, he doesn't expect to run into anyone he knows. When a masked man holding a gun enters the picture, everyone is taken completely by surprise. I wonder how much money is in there. Other than that, it was a pretty good book. Reluctantly Rosie comes down to help.
But other than that it was a real page turner. Corey is impatiently waiting for Rosie to run away with him. I would recommend this book to boys and girls over the age of 16. I tuck the camera into my pocket. This story takes place in today's world, because the problems the kids in the story face are the ones we face today in our lives. On the wall, in an ancient fixture with a pull chain, is another naked lightbulb.
I found the writing style unique and I liked it. Personal Response: I really liked this book, because it kept me reading throughout the book. Neither expects what happens next. Each chapter is told from the point of view of one of the people in the convenience store during the robbery—Daniel, Rosie and the Masked Man. The thing i most enjoyed is that all chapters live you with intrigue because when the conflict is finishing they change of chapter in this book every chapter is a different character, different point of view, which in my opinion creates a lot of tension and gives the reader the desire to continue reading. It was supposed to be an easy getaway but when his girlfriend shows up, the next person through the door is wearing a mask and holding a gun.
Rosie's Father- Rosie's father was a businessman, that cared a lot for his daughter. I still teach at the college level - Children's and Adolescent Literature - and I truly enjoy connecting my students with great books. This story takes place in a city somewhere in America. I would recommend this to fifth to eighth graders looking for an easy action book. I am glad that I found this book, and will be sure to show it to my friends.
Rosie was playing o running away with a guy and never see his dad aging. Leon robbed the store to get money so he can get it to his mother because he is poor. The masked man thinks Rosie loves him so he wants to rob the store and run away with her but she did not know about his plan because she had already made plans to run away with another guy. But there's no other way. It was supposed to be an easy getaway but when his girlfriend shows up, the next person through the door is wearing a mask and holding a gun. Daniel has a secret and not altogether ethical task to complete when he enters a convenience store. Overall I recommend this book to ages 12-18 because its a good book thats easy to comprehend.
The Lexile level is 650 about grade 5. It painted a very good picture of an armed robbery in my mind. Characterization: Rosie is a stuck up teenager. This book had a lot of twist and turns in it which got my brain jumbled. Buy this for your older reluctant readers. He seems serious but not particularly competent in his role as criminal.
Welcome to a thin intense book base on three point of views. Includes an excerpt from the novel Knifepoint by Alex Van Tol. The book focuses more effect rather than the cause of the story. She can recognize the voice but doesn't know who he was. Plot Summary: Masked is a multi-perspective book.
